Pre-School - the building blocks for the future
Our Early Years Department is one in which you’re your child will be encouraged to be happy, kind and curious. We work closely with parents to ensure that we cultivate and maintain a supportive, caring, family environment.
As part of the updated Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework, we will focus our Pre-School education on the first three key areas of learning. These are communication and language, physical development, and personal, social and emotional development. Once these are established in our secure learning environment, we are able to develop the next four skills of Literacy, Mathematics, understanding the world, and expressive arts and design.
In our Pre-School, your child will transition from part time to full time, and so our caring staff ensure that this is a smooth and exciting change. Our Reception class offers a smooth transition to more formal learning while still providing a balanced range of activities and experiences. We will continue to build upon the Early Learning Goals, which establish expectations for most children to reach by the end of their Foundation Stage. Learning in each of the seven areas continues through carefully planned play-based activities and experiences. The children have a more structured approach to their learning with a balance of formal and informal learning to develop each child’s individuality and independence, in preparation for the next stage of their learning.
Our emphasis on teaching the individual child ensures that any barriers to learning are overcome before they become insurmountable, and children are encouraged to reach their full potential in our EYFS.
