It can be a daunting experience to stand up and perform in front of an audience, especially when you’ve only been in school for four weeks! The children in Reception rose to the challenge this week as they took to the stage and performed their very first assembly.
Our assembly was based around our topic theme ‘All About Me’. The children started by introducing themselves to the rest of the school, and they showed some delightful paintings of themselves. We then recited a poem called ‘Names’, celebrating the fact that everyone’s name is special.
As part of our topic the children have been using their senses to help them explore their environment. ‘Senses’ was the theme of our second poem ‘All Of Me’, which the children recited beautifully. The children continued thinking about their senses as we shared the story ‘Peace At Last’. The children all played an important part in retelling the story by providing some very realistic sound effects to noises found inside and outside the house!
Well done Reception on a fantastic performance; I am extremely proud of you all and look forward to our next performance!
