If You Go Down to the Woods Today ………

Last Friday, the children in Pre-School took their favourite teddy bear on a very special adventure to College Lake in Tring.  The rain stayed away for truly wonderful day exploring the woodlands searching for Edward the bear who had stolen our picnic lunch!

A mixture of sensory experiences starting with our noses and a magic sponge to find new smells of flowers and herbs we discovered:

  • A yellow flower that Florence thought smelt like curry
  • Evie thought the bay leaf reminded her of pasta
  • Reilly said the sage smelt like pizza
  • Hester said the lavender smell was lovely.Following Edward the bear’s foot prints through the woods we finally found our bears and our picnic ready and waiting to enjoy. After lunch, the children used their den building skills to build some camps for their bears, demonstrating their creativity and skills for construction.Christopher, Gideon and Oliver found leaves and moss to camouflage their bears completely while Filip and Matthew ensured their bears had a comfy sofa and could keep a look out.  Thank you to Mrs Spencer, Dr Harding and Mrs Newcombe for accompanying us on this trip and of course to Edward the bear who kept us all on our toes!
